ABOUT Hi Stella
hi stella is an art project by Stella Pak using cosmetics exclusively as the medium applied to paper. Born out of necessity for a video conference backdrop while taking up residence in her family's home during COVID-19, the initial artworks were created with expired cosmetics products in an effort to give them a new life. Having been exposed to all aspects of makeup artistry for over 10 years, the project is an interpretation of what makeup artists describe as “playing with a blank canvas”. Linking the process to her childhood memories of using Cray-Pas and pastels, hi stella is as much a symbol of homecoming and child-like freedom of creativity.
